Year 11 Employer Interviews

We understand that going for an interview for a college/sixth form place, an apprenticeship or a job can be a daunting prospect. This is why Springwell offers all Year 11 students a trial, real-life interview to ensure that our students are more comfortable in these situations when the time comes for them to move on to further education or employment and ‘do it for real’.

Each student had to prepare in advance a CV and letter of application based around a fictitious job of their choice. Students also learnt about interview techniques in PSHE lessons where they also created their CVs and letters with the help of their Form Tutors. They had examples of good CV’s/letters to guide them as well as a blank templates and sentence starters to help them structure and build their CV’s and letters.

Each student was given a specific time to attend for their interview where they were asked a predetermined set of questions designed to stimulate the conversation and give the feel of a real interview. Each interviewer was asked to give the students verbal feedback at the end of their interview.

All the students will receive their written feedback in a follow up PHSE lesson and will be given the opportunity to make improvements to their CV’s.

We are very grateful to the following companies, establishments and individuals for giving up their valuable time to help encourage and prepare our students for what is an increasingly competitive market place:
