The Little Cookies is a music group set up by Inkersall Spencer Academy several years ago by Mrs Dicker (Teaching Assistant) at Inkersall. The group is open to children from the school across all year groups.
SCART have been working in partnership for many years with Inkersall and in 2019/20 we embarked upon a project that would have seen The Little Cookies join with choirs from 4 other primary schools to showcase the vocal talent that exists in the Staveley and Brimington Community. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic this festival never took place. However, once restrictions began to lift, Inkersall and SCART re-ignited their partnership and began to collaborate once more on a project of work for the Little Cookies.
Part of this work has been to learn and record an original piece of music written for the children of our local Community “The Highest Ground”.
As part of our weekly outreach sessions into Inkersall this song was recorded during the Spring Term of 2022 featuring singers from the Little Cookies.
Community Arts Manager Brian Evans stated that “The Little Cookies are an incredibly talented group of singers, who work hard every week and give everything they have to producing results like this, they are a pleasure to work with and just go from strength to strength”.
