This term we took 25 GCSE Drama students to the Lyceum in Sheffield, to see the hit musical ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’.  The musical explores self-discovery, homophobia and bullying following the life of a 16 year old boy from Sheffield called Jamie as he gets through his struggles in Secondary school, with many of the themes running through the play being relatable and relevant to all ages in audience.  It is laugh out loud funny in parts and it was absolutely magical to see the students’ faces light up and was amazing to be able to take some students who haven’t been to a professional performance before.

Students will need to write up a live performance review for the written part of their GCSE exam, which is worth 32/80 marks.  Since being back in class, students have been working hard to describe, analyse and evaluate the costume, light and set as these are the areas we cover for the exam.

All of our students behaved impeccably and it was a joy to run. We are looking forward to the next one already!
