The college production of ‘Matilda’ was centre stage across college this half-term, with countless hours of rehearsals and preparation culminating in a staggering run of performances that would have graced any venue, and demonstrated the incredible abilities of our students.

The auditorium was transformed into a fully-functioning theatre thanks to the vision of our performing arts team – the perfect arena for our students to shine.

And shine they did. Our cast took a great story and told it their way. Funny, emotive, mature, and thoroughly entertaining. The dancers were remarkable, bringing so many clever interpretations to the action and wowing the audience with their skill and execution. The ensemble sang with real quality and confidence, belting out ‘Miracle’, ‘School Song’, and of course the show-stopping ‘Revolting Children’ with boundless energy; our fantastic Matildas delivered the solo ‘Naughty’ with mischievous excellence; and the renditions of the famous ‘When I Grow Up’ were pitch perfect and incredibly moving.

And by the time the encore arrived, it was hard for the crowd not to be overwhelmed by what they had just witnessed: an unbelievable array of talent setting a new standard for musical theatre at Springwell.
